Closed Curtain

Shot in a dry and restrained style, the film 3 Faces by Jafar Panahi depicts the reality of traditional life in Iran. While being critical of certain situations, it looks at them with irony, fondness and hope. The actor/director and both actresses called on to give life to the title’s “faces” interpret their roles by blending art and life with ease. Reality sometimes takes on the appearance of falsehood, but behind each lie there is a truth needing to be discovered. A narrow and tortuous road is the symbol of the restricted path traveled by the Iranian cinema industry, a history of different obstacles encountered in various periods by the artists who have been its protagonists.
